FAQ – Frequently Asked Questions

Q: One of the colors is sometimes described as wood. Is it really wood?

A: No, don’t trust bad factory translations! The plate is 100% metal. The visual finish that can be confusing is actually a superb brushed Antique Bronze. No wooden parts here.

Q: Is the metal strong enough to last over time?

A: It’s tough. The metal alloy used is designed to withstand cable pressure and wear from touring. The jack socket itself ensures a firm hold of your plug.

Q: Can this plate be installed on an acoustic guitar or a Telecaster?

A: No, this “boat” format (oval and recessed) is exclusive to the Stratocaster design. If you try to mount it on a Telecaster, a Les Paul, or an acoustic, it won’t fit without having to rout the guitar body.

Q: Do I need to solder to install this new jack?

A: Yes. You will need to desolder the two wires from your old guitar (hot and ground) and resolder them onto the two terminals of the new jack socket provided. This is a basic operation that takes five minutes with a standard soldering iron.

Q: Is the 6.35 mm female jack included or is it just the metal cover?

A: You receive the complete set ready to be soldered. The mono jack socket is already screwed onto the plate with its tightening nut, and the two wood screws for fixing it to the guitar are supplied in the bag.
