Transparent Pickguard for Acoustic Guitar (The Invisible Shield)

You love the natural wood finish of your guitar, but aggressive pick attacks are starting to seriously mark the soundboard?

It’s the classic dilemma. To avoid damaging the varnish without hiding the rosette under a big black or colorful plastic, this transparent pickguard is the ideal solution.

It absorbs impacts instead of your instrument, while being completely forgotten.

Made from a flexible and resistant PVC, this accessory perfectly conforms to the curves of the guitar. No need for glue or a visit to the luthier: the plate is equipped with a self-adhesive backing. Simply clean your guitar’s surface, peel off the protective film, and gently apply the plate, avoiding air bubbles.

With its standard “teardrop” shape, it fits most folk and electro-acoustic guitars on the market without any hassle.

It’s the essential accessory to keep an instrument in impeccable condition, whether you’re a fierce rhythm guitarist or simply want to preserve the resale value of your beautiful acoustic.

FAQ – Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Is the pickguard truly invisible once applied?

A: Yes, the PVC used is completely transparent. Once properly applied flat on your guitar’s soundboard and the upper protective film removed, it perfectly allows the wood grain and color to show through.

Q: Is the plastic thick enough to withstand violent pick strokes?

A: Absolutely. That is precisely its role. The material is robust enough to stop scratches from the hardest picks, while remaining thin enough not to hinder the resonance of your instrument’s soundboard.

Q: Can I install it on a classical guitar?

A: The adhesive will stick very well on a classical guitar, yes. However, the “teardrop” shape is really designed for the look of folk guitars (with steel strings). On a classical guitar (nylon strings), rectangular “golpeadors” are generally used, but if you like the look of this one, nothing prevents you from using it!

Q: If I decide to remove it one day, will the glue tear off my varnish?

A: The adhesive is formulated for use on musical instruments. The luthier’s trick to remove it without damage is to very slightly heat the plate with a hairdryer (at a good distance) to soften the glue, then pull very gently at an angle. On modern varnishes (polyurethane), there is absolutely no risk. Just be more careful if you have a very fragile vintage nitrocellulose varnish.
