Thumb Pick for Acoustic, Electric or Bass Guitars

Here’s a cellulose model in very nice pearlescent tones! We love the celluloid effect that resembles horn and ivory. They are all 1.2 mm thick, which is quite thick for very percussive attacks.

This type of plastic is suitable for everyone, from beginners to experienced players, on all types of guitar.

Finger picks prevent damage to your nails while maintaining a fingerstyle playing technique with the right hand.

Choose the color that suits you, or take several to be able to change them: black, ivory, ruby, emerald, sky blue, dark blue, purple, light copper or dark copper, caramel, smoky, rainbow or matte color gradient.

Premium Thumb Pick (Celluloid 1.2mm)

If you’re looking to combine the freedom of fingerstyle playing with the power of a plectrum, this Celluloid Thumb Pick is the tool you need.

Designed to reproduce the feel and warm tone of tortoiseshell or ivory, it acts as a true natural extension of your hand.

It’s the ideal accessory to protect your nails while ensuring well-defined and percussive bass lines.

With its generous 1.2 mm thickness, this pick offers a clear and “snappy” attack, essential for acoustic guitar picking, but also very effective on electric or bass. Unlike basic plastics, celluloid provides a perfect glide on the strings, without unwanted noise.

Whether you’re a beginner looking to stabilize your right hand or an experienced guitarist who loves Travis Picking, this model adapts to your morphology for immediate playing comfort.

FAQ – Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Is this pick made of real tortoiseshell? A: No, and that’s good news for turtles! It’s made of high-quality celluloid, a material historically used to perfectly imitate the look, smooth texture, and warm sound of real tortoiseshell or ivory, while being much more durable.

Q: Isn’t the 1.2 mm thickness too rigid? A: For a thumb pick, this is a standard and necessary thickness. Unlike a pick held between two fingers that needs flexibility for strumming, the thumb pick must be rigid to transmit the thumb’s force and bring out the bass without bending. This ensures a clean and precise attack.

Q: Is the size adjustable if I have a wide thumb? A: Celluloid is a thermoformable material. If the pick feels a bit too tight or too loose, a luthier’s trick is to dip it for a few seconds in very hot (not boiling) water to slightly soften it, adjust it to your thumb, then run it under cold water to set the shape.

Q: Can it be used to play electric guitar? A: Absolutely. While very popular in acoustic blues and folk, it’s excellent on electric guitar for styles like country, jazz, or rockabilly. It allows for quick alternation between bass lines played with the pick and chords played with the other fingers (hybrid picking technique).

Q: Does the color fade over time? A: No, it’s not a surface print. The pearlescent or tortoiseshell pattern is embedded in the celluloid. Even after hours of intense playing, the visual appearance will remain identical; it will even polish further with use.
